Our dog has chronic hepatitis, and so we needed a reduced-copper formula. We are making vet-approved homemade food also, but she missed the crunchiness of kibble, we wanted to have some backup food. I knew she would quickly tire of one brand of prescription hepatic food–she’s a picky eater–and the other option contains egg, which she can’t have. A google search led me to The Scoop, and we have been so pleased! She loves the food. It’s a great addition to our homemade food, the kibble is a great size for our smaller dog, and it’s ⅓ of the price of the prescription options!

Our darling 10 year old Vizsla girl, Penny, suddenly started having very high liver enzyme levels about a year ago. We’ve tried a dozen or so hepatic supplements, but nothing ever helped lower them, despite the vet ruling out Cushings or a tumor via an ultrasound. At her last vet appointment in December, 2020, the vet suggested trying The Scoop dog food, saying that Penny might be having an averse reaction to copper. I was skeptical, as I thought she was already eating premium dog food (Blue Buffalo), but we were really running out of options. I ordered the 23 lb bag and Penny has been eating it for the past 2 months. Today she just had her vet appointment with blood work, and lo and behold her liver enzymes were cut IN HALF!!! From over 1300 to just over 600! I can’t tell you how happy my wife and I are to get this news, as Penny is our “fur baby” — our only child. Thank you for helping improve our dog’s health, and for restoring our faith in products that actually work! Please continue the great work and service you provide 🙂

Great dog food for my four year old Bedlington Terrier, Cloud. She prefers the chicken kibble, so I will continue to feed her the chicken formula until The Scoop makes more protein varieties. Cloud has been on this brand of dog food for three months now and her gagging has almost completely gone away. It brings me relief that she is feeling better. I wish I had known about The Scoop sooner and Bedlington Terriers sensitivities to copper. Way to go!

My miniature schnauzer Daisy has elevated liver enzymes. We saw it increased slowly and then drastically increased last year. We were getting ready to start a home-cooked diet, when I started researching prescription dog foods and realized the price. I stumbled across the scoop and we started her mid February 2021. She returned to the vet today May 4th 2021 and her liver enzymes have decreased. She was previously reading off the chart and now her levels are readable again. Her ALT came down by over 800. We are pleased with the progress of getting my Daisy back on track. Both of our dogs love this food and usually new food looses it’s luster after a month. They both eat it up and I can tell this company takes pride in what we feed our fur babies. THANK YOU!!

I’m so incredibly thankful this brand exists. My three-year-old Doberman began to exhibit an increase in thirst and urination accompanied by progressively rising ALT enzymes, and the vet became concerned that it could be copper storage disease. We decided to try altering her diet first due to the cost of a liver biopsy. I wasn’t very thrilled about the cost of the hepatic prescription diets available, especially considering the top ingredients are grains/fillers. I did a bit of research, came across The Scoop, cleared it with my vet, and three months later her enzymes are down 35% and her water intake is back to normal! I have no hesitation feeding it to both my Doberman and young Golden Retriever – they love each formula!

This food, along with Sam-e and sylimarin took my dobermans liver enzymes from 900 to 77 in a little over a months time. I had watched her enzymes elevate from time to time for a few years , so I did a little research after the high test results and came upon this site . My veterinarian told me it was a miracle and said, “Whatever your giving her, don’t change it.” So here I am back to place another order. So glad The Scoop exists and it’s cost is better than most prescription food on the market, and that would have been the next step . What can I say, I HIGHLY recommend this food and I’m so grateful for the people responsible for providing it.

When my yellow labrador was 6 she was diagnosed with copper storage disease. Her liver had significant damage by the time of diagnosis. She had all the symptoms of copper storage disease but a genetic test showed she did not have it. I tried different pharmaceutical agents and vet prescriptions and homemade diets. The biopsy of her liver showed toxic copper levels. All other foods did not seem to work or she would not eat. The vet said she would only have three or four months to live. Started her on 20 mg of prednisone to help with the liver inflammation, improve her appetite, and make her comfortable. 6 months later the vet was surprised to see her starting to stabilize and he said we should look at managing her condition. He suggested the Scoop Dog food. I had to reduce her prednisone to 5 mg every other day because her appetite was now ravenous. She will be turning 10 in May. Her last vet visit showed her liver enzymes were all stable. She is active and will still go on hunts with the other dogs. I switched all of my working labradors on a mixture of the three types of Scoop dog food. They have been on it for the last 2 years.
