JOHN LEMKE (verified owner) –
When my yellow labrador was 6 she was diagnosed with copper storage disease. Her liver had significant damage by the time of diagnosis. She had all the symptoms of copper storage disease but a genetic test showed she did not have it. I tried different pharmaceutical agents and vet prescriptions and homemade diets. The biopsy of her liver showed toxic copper levels. All other foods did not seem to work or she would not eat. The vet said she would only have three or four months to live. Started her on 20 mg of prednisone to help with the liver inflammation, improve her appetite, and make her comfortable. 6 months later the vet was surprised to see her starting to stabilize and he said we should look at managing her condition. He suggested the Scoop Dog food. I had to reduce her prednisone to 5 mg every other day because her appetite was now ravenous. She will be turning 10 in May. Her last vet visit showed her liver enzymes were all stable. She is active and will still go on hunts with the other dogs. I switched all of my working labradors on a mixture of the three types of Scoop dog food. They have been on it for the last 2 years.
