About Us

How It All Started

The Scoop was established in 2015 by Dr. Pete VanVranken of Dickman Road Veterinary Clinic in Battle Creek, Michigan. As a veterinarian for more than 45 years, Dr. Pete saw major health issues in pets caused directly, and indirectly by the foods they were being fed. His own dog Cookie, a rescue dog from a local shelter, passed away due to ingestion of manufactured food that contained copper, which built up in Cookies system and eventually caused her death. Dr. Pete took a stance. He wanted to provide a place where pet owners could get quality, safe food and informative pet education.

We believe that every pet deserves quality, safe food! Not all pet foods are good for your pet. Be sure you are feeding your pet, not only the right amount and kind, but food that is produced by companies with integrity, those doing everything in their power to ensure there is nothing in their pet food that can harm your 4-legged family member. Promise yourself—next year at this time, your pet will be on a diet of only safe food! We are here to help you keep that promise.

Our dedicated and experienced team.

We are proud of the team that we have assembled in order to provide you with the highest quality dog food that is truly safe for your pet.
